[Player Request] Cinematic Trailer
Due to the news of not one, but two new Guild Wars games coming up, this again brings to question the matter of cinematic trailers. While I understand that ArenaNET is not directly the producer of these trailers and that it has to therefore pay someone to outsource it, I feel that the cinematic trailers were a great prelude to both the original game and the factions expansion. Honestly, these trailers were what convinced me to buy the games in the first place. With nightfall coming after the dissappointment (to a large extent) that factions was, ANET took a risk in not investing in a cinematic trailer and tbh, it dissapointed me quite a bit, especially after I found storyboard pictures that alluded to a planned cinematic in the first place. I am sure many other players feel this way also and I, as a member of the player community, request that ArenaNET actually invest the time, money, and thought into a well-done Computer Animated Cinematic Trailer to prelude into GW:EN and spark up our interest.
*Note: that factions trailer was the only thing that allowed me to even barely comprehend the horrendously convoluted storyline that was factions pve. Although I want a trailer, please don't think it makes up for bad storyline. I'm sure that ANET will not make this mistake again though .
Please respond with any thoughts you have on this subject and hopefully some dev. team voices will be heard here as well

Id rather anet spend time and money making the game rather then wasting it on making a cg cutscene that ill most likely only watch once.

Trailers of that sort are a considerable misuse of time and resources, I'd rather they put that effort into the game itself.

Honestly, if they have a good game, it won't matter either way. The CG trailer, again, is not designed by ANET. Therefore, they don't have to spend time developing it. All they need to do is submit the story idea and background (which should already be good and in place if its a good game) and then pay the company to make the trailer. The money is as well spent as any other form of marketing. You might as well say that ANET shouldn't promote its games on PCgamer and instead should be hushed and make the game better. All i'm asking is for a good visual to intro the next chapter.

Money that could instead be used to pay devs and artists. CGI like that is -expensive-. VERY expensive.

Nightfall has given us far more content (and still is giving more) then factions did, and nightfall didnt have a cg.
its money that they dont need to spend. and also anet isnt the one who markets the game, ncsoft does, thats their job.
cg scenes are pointless fluff and they become forgotten. in fact i didnt even remember factions or proph had any till you mentiond them again.

I support you at 100% guy, the faction cinematic was AWESOME, and it would be great to see one for Eye of the North ! I personaly prefer faction, which has a real background, true story, I love it so much ^^, and it is thanks to this cinematic which defines the background of an epic story... look Nightfall, I didn't understood 1/2 of the story, cause there is no good introduction, so it doesn't make me interested in this story !
Yes it costs money, but they have money, they are not amateurs who just began to make a game ! Stop arguing they use it elswhere, who tells you they don't just keep it in a well guarded chest, this money ? (joking but...)
Any game NEEDS a cinematic, it expand it attractivity by 300% !

The cinematics were cool; but personally, if Anet decides they're better off focusing those resources into the actual game- I stand by that decision.

I don't care about cinematic trailers. I'd rather they develop a good toolset for in-game sequences.
